RIAU ONLINE, CALIFORNIA-Apple recently launched Vision Pro at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023. However, the new product was criticized by CEO Meta Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg thinks Vision Pro is too expensive and can make people feel isolated.
Mark says Apple hasn’t come up with an outstanding solution to the limitations that the Meta team hasn’t explored yet. Some of the features available on Apple Vision Pro glasses have been discussed in the Meta team. In addition, according to him, Apple’s VR glasses consume more energy compared to the Quest 3 because they have a screen that has a higher resolution.
Launching from GSM Arena on Sunday (11/6/2023), he also said that these glasses require batteries and cables attached to the glasses, which can limit the user’s movements.
“Price [Apple Vision Pro] up to seven times more expensive [dibandingkan Quest 3] and it takes a lot of energy so you need a battery and cable attached to Apple Vision to use it,” Zuckerberg told employees in his office.
To note, Apple sells Vision Pro at a price of US $ 3,499 or around Rp. 52 million. This price is much higher than the Quest 3 which sells for US $ 499 or around IDR 7.4 million, and the Quest Pro which sells for around IDR 15 million.
Previously, a senior analyst at Counterpoint Research stated that Apple would likely only dominate certain markets in terms of shipments, being a prominent player. In addition, Mark also satirized Apple’s vision in presenting these products.
According to him, Quest glasses connect humans with other people, while Apple’s approach is the opposite.
“Vision Meta is social by nature. It’s about people interacting in new ways and feeling closer in new ways. Apple’s approach, on the other hand, depicts a person sitting alone on the couch,” said Mark as quoted from suara.com
