The Santa Fe Ministry of Health announced today that, on the occasion of World Blood Donation Day, which is celebrated every June 14, it will carry out six external collections during the week in the cities of Rosario, Santa Fe, Venado Tuerto and Esperanza .
Through the Single Center for Organ Donation, Ablation and Implantation (Cudaio), the province joins the celebration “in the most useful and participatory way: with blood drives open to the entire population,” said Andrea Acosta, coordinator of the Transfusion Medicine area of the body.
The first collection will be held on June 13 at the FAVE Health Center in the city of Esperanza, while the following day the activities will be carried out at the Santa Fe Municipal Council, at the Rosario Government Office and at the Municipal Palace of that same city.
Finally, on June 15 the collection will be transferred to school number 602 General. San Martín de Venado Tuerto and the headquarters of the Red Cross of the provincial capital.
The only requirements to be able to donate blood are to be at least 18 years old, weigh more than 50 kilograms and be in good health.
The Cudaio explained that World Blood Donation Day is celebrated every June 14 at the initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO), in commemoration of the date of birth of the pathologist and biologist Karl Landsteiner, who discovered and typified the blood groups.
