Teenager Licks Soy Sauce Bottle at Sushi Restaurant and Gets Sued for IDR 7 Billion

The viral story of a teenager who licks a soy sauce bottle at a sushi restaurant. As a result of his action, this teenager was sued by the restaurant to pay a fine of IDR 7 billion!

The restaurant is a place to enjoy good food. It’s a shame that many unexpected events happened at this restaurant.

A sushi restaurant named Akindo Sushiro in Japan suffered huge losses due to the attitude of visitors who committed disgusting acts. One of the diners was caught licking the soy sauce bottle and empty tea glass.

This has also made other visitors’ trust in restaurant hygiene decrease. Finally, the restaurant demanded that the visitor pay a very large nominal fine.

This incident was initially known by uploading a viral video on Twitter. In the video uploaded by the account @roketdan2, a teenage boy can be seen eating at the Akindo Sushiro restaurant, Gifu, Japan, reports japantimes.co.jp (09/06).

However, this teenager is not just enjoying sushi in a restaurant, but instead performs unexpected pranks.

He was holding a soy sauce bottle whose lid had been opened while looking around. Seeing that the conditions were safe, this man immediately licked the soy sauce bottle and then closed it again.

The action doesn’t end there. He picked up an empty, clean teacup, licked the rim of the cup, and put it back where it was.

This visitor’s action went viral on social media with many netizens finding it disgusting. Even to the point of bringing up the term ‘sushi terrorism’ to describe unhygienic behavior in restaurants.

Akindo Sushiro claims they have experienced a decrease in the number of subscribers after this video was uploaded on January 29. Losses experienced by the company are not only a matter of decreasing the number of customers. They also claim its parent company’s market capitalization fell by more than 16 billion yen.

After this incident, the sushi restaurant company took several steps. One of the most recent, filed a lawsuit for compensation of $ 480,000 or a fine of up to Rp. 7 billion against the teenager.

On the other hand, the defense team for the teenager argued that there was no clear connection between the boy’s actions and the decrease in customers at the restaurant. It is possible that the losses suffered by Akindo Sushiro are also supported due to the tough competition between other sushi restaurants.

Akindo Sushiro’s competitors, including Kura Sushi, also suffered losses due to a similar scandal at the beginning of the year. A man in Nagoya had licked the cap of a soy sauce bottle at one of its outlets. As a result he was charged with causing damage to the restaurant.

Unfortunately, until now there has been no further information regarding the compensation of Rp. 7 billion that was filed for the teenager.
