Gabriel Guevara: The Young Actor Taking the Entertainment World by Storm at 22 Years Old

Netflix, Disney+… Series, films… At only 22 years old, Gabriel Guevara multiplies the projects. On the occasion of the release of My culpa, on Amazon Prime this June 8, the young actor confides for the first time to a French media. AT Gala.fr, he tells about his beginning of his career, his passion for cinema and his ambitions, but also his mother Marlène Morreau. A “show-woman” whom he admires and is close to. But it is without his name that Gabriel Guevara wishes to make his own in France. Encounter.

GALA.fr: How are you?

Gabriel Guevara: It’s okay, I’m learning my new texts. I’m in Madrid to shoot a new soap opera for Disney+. I do not stop working and I am very happy.

GALA.fr: In France, it’s your mother that the public knows. In a few words, can you introduce yourself?

Gabriel Guevara: I am an actor and I have nothing to do with my mother (laughs).

GALA.fr: You are on the bill of Culpa Mia on Amazon Prime, you shoot for Disney, you played in the Spanish version of Skam, you are not special on Netflix, with whom you have a project to appear by 2024. All that at only 22 years old…

Gabriel Guevara: I started shooting series when I was 18, but I started in the entertainment world when I was 8 at the Royal Theater in Madrid. I don’t know how to explain my journey, which I find incredible. Even I find it hard to believe. I’m happy to do what I love and to be able to build what I want since I was little. I’m living a dream, but I’m afraid it will end soon.

GALA.fr: That is to say?

Gabriel Guevara: In Spain, we say: “Bread for today, hunger for tomorrow”. It means : “Bread for today, hunger for tomorrow”. However, I am selective with my projects. I want to have a good career, get off to a good start so as not to fall early. But I will do everything to be able to continue to live from my passion.

GALA.fr: How do your parents view your early career?

Gabriel Guevara: They are happy and proud of me. My mother has always been there for me, she follows me. She is a good mentor, a good teacher in life. With my father, they gave me very good advice. But in terms of my career, interpretation, all that, it’s not thanks to my mother, she doesn’t know how to interpret (laughs). As for my father, he helps me to manage the administrative part.

GALA.fr: You say you are very different from your mother, why?

Gabriel Guevara: My mother is not an actress, she is a showwoman, a star. If she does a casting for a soap opera or a movie, it’s more complicated for her because she has no training. She’s a good actress, but that’s another job.

GALA.fr: How do you view his career as a playmate?

Gabriel Guevara: She’s a woman, she’s 52, she can do whatever she wants. It’s his life. It is thanks to her that I have everything I have in life, that there has always been bread on the table. I thank her for that.

GALA.fr: You’ve been living alone since you were 18…

Gabriel Guevara: My mother lives in Marbella. My father is in Belgium. I have a small apartment in Madrid where I live. I couldn’t live with my mother who was too mummy (laughs). It allows me to stay focused.

GALA.fr: So you always wanted to be an actor?

Gabriel Guevara: All my life I wanted to be an actor. As a child, I couldn’t see very clearly, but it was by doing little things in the theater with my father, or in my mother’s scripts, I liked that. It fascinated me.

GALA.fr: Would you like to work in France or even in the United States?

Gabriel Guevara: Yes ! But I will have to improve my accent and my French (laughs). It’s been a long time since I’ve been to France. I would like to break into France in quinqui films, stories in the suburbs… Make a film like Hatred with Vincent Cassel would be great. For one of my Bac exams, I had to do a monologue and I chose one of his. But also French comedies because I love that. I am ready to embark on many projects. Hollywood, that sounds like it! But it’s complicated. I’m going little by little. Every project I do is a new challenge for me, except telenovelas (laughs). I don’t want to have too many cliché roles.

GALA.fr: However, it’s easy to say that you’ve played cute guys more often than the other way around?

Gabriel Guevara: Sometimes I’m the handsome guy, the guy who plays the guy, but I’ve also been the cute-nice… In Culpa Mia, I play a guy who has a love affair with his stepsister. I don’t understand how fans can get attached to characters like that, a bit problematic (laughs). Leave me away from it all.

GALA.fr: By going to France, do you think that your mother’s popularity could help you or hurt you?

Gabriel Guevara: I will try to do things on my side. My mother is great, but I don’t want people to think of me and say to themselves: “He’s Marlene’s son”. But rather : “He works well”.

GALA.fr: On your Instagram account, you also share very sexy photos. Have you always been comfortable in front of the camera and with your image?

Gabriel Guevara: At first, I wasn’t very confident with my body… I know I’m cute, but I don’t think I’m the most beautiful in the world either. I am a normal 22 year old boy. I keep quiet and when my moment passes, I will keep quiet. It won’t go to my head. The only thing that matters to me is to do my job well, to progress. In reality, I like being at home, watching movies, going out with my friends. I’m normal, even a little shy at times.

GALA.fr: And fame in all that?

Gabriel Guevara: I wanted to be an actor, but I didn’t always like fame. I saw how fame grew in France, Spain and elsewhere. I didn’t fully appreciate it. That’s good, but only up to a point. I have the impression that with social networks it is worse than before. So I’m staying away from it all.

GALA.fr: On the heart side, you must be in great demand…

gabriel guevara : I’m coming out of a toxic relationship, so I’d rather not think about it too much for now. There, I am quiet, I work, I meet new people. I am well.
