The Fathers of the Church established this holiday for three reasons
The first Sunday after Pentecost is dedicated to All Saints. St. Apostle Judas, brother of the Lord († 80). St. Venerable Paisius the Great (IV). St. Venerable Paisius Hilendarski († ca. 1770). St. Martyr Zosim of Sozopol. St. John (Maximovich), Archbishop of Shanghai and San Franciscan Miracle Worker († 1966)
The Fathers of the Church established this holiday for three reasons.
First – to show us the fruits with which the descent of the Holy Spirit filled and fertilized the incorruptible reality, the spiritual world.
Second – to remind us that there are many heroes of the faith who, with a perfect life and a sacrificial confession, served God and were crowned by Him with the “crown of glory”, but remained nameless and unknown to the world.
And thirdly – to gather all the saints in one day, so that it is known that they lived and begged with the power of the One Savior Jesus Christ, that they rose in the same field of virtue, that they are all from the One, Holy , Congregational and Apostolic Church of Christ and that they reside in one Heavenly Kingdom of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit – in the Kingdom of grace. “The grace of God has appeared, saving all men,” says St. Apostle Paul.
And today everyone with the names Panayot, Pantalei and Pancho celebrates their name day.
