The manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Dave Roberts, said that the Mexican Julio Urías will not leave the disabled list for the opening of this Sunday – as stipulated – due to discomfort in the left hamstring that will delay his return to the big leagues.
Urías felt the discomfort in Thursday’s bullpen session and will now be out for another week or two, ESPN reported.
The left-hander who came third in the 2022 National League Cy Young voting was scheduled to be activated this Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies after being out of action since May 18.
“He’s going to keep pitching,” Roberts said. “But I think when you try to increase the intensity that’s when you feel the tightness in your hamstring. We’re going to tone it down a bit and not put a date on when it’s coming back,” she added.
Urías made his trip to the disabled list with a 5-4 record, 4.39 ERA, 53 strikeouts and 11 walks in 55.1 innings of work, all spread over 10 starts.
The Dodgers are second in the National League West with a 36-28 record, 2.5 games behind the Arizona Rattlers, surprise leaders of the key.
