Pep Guardiola, coach of Manchester City, believes that his team does not need excessive enthusiasm when it meets Inter Milan tomorrow, Saturday, in the Champions League final, which is scheduled at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
Guardiola said, in statements to the official website of the European Union for the game (UEFA): “With our team, I learned that excessive enthusiasm does not suit us .. We will travel there in order to achieve a dream, and we will try to play a good match and win the final.”
He added, “We know that we had a chance two years ago, but we did not take advantage of it.. Last year we lost in an exciting scenario.. We are there again this year, and we will try to do everything we have.”
And he continued, “We will deal with the match as we deal with midweek matches in the English Premier League, we will be sure that the players can focus and what they need to do .. nothing more than that.”
And the Spanish coach continued: “Many clubs have destroyed their projects and ideas, because of their inability to win this championship … and many clubs have become great because of their victory in the Champions League.”
And he added, “Even if I do not accept this opinion, I understand everything we did during those years, which were full of good things .. It would be logical for us to win this championship, and if this did not happen, it would seem less logical, but we must accept it .. That’s how it is.”
