At last the good news about Joaquín Cortés arrives. After spending a week in the La Princesa hospital in Madrid, where he arrived to be treated by the emergency department after losing consciousness while playing with his children, the well-known bailaor has managed to recover and left the center on Monday, April 10, with a hospital discharge under the arm.
Cortés, 54, was diagnosed a few hours after entering La Princesa with severe pneumonia and has been treated for seven days until he has finally managed to recover. “It has been something unexpected, something surreal, I thought I had the flu and I almost died. I arrived at the emergency room with very little oxygen saturation in my blood, I was tired,” the artist himself explained to the press that was waiting for him at the hospital gates, as reported by the EFE agency.
The bailaor has publicly acknowledged that it was a “very serious” income but, making use of his particular sense of humor, Cortés wanted to emphasize the positive side. “There is no harm that does not come for good, they have done an entire ITV and the doctors have told me that I have a biological age of 20 years,” he joked to later ensure that the professionals of La Princesa have assured him that he is a true “physical wonder”.
waiting for more results
Getting a little more serious, the choreographer has explained that, although he has been discharged from the hospital, this is not a definitive medical discharge. Over the next few weeks, she must continue treatment and the doctors will closely monitor her progress while they await the final results of various cardiological and neurological tests that have been carried out during her days at La Princesa.
In addition, Cortés has wanted to explain through his social networks that the pneumonia he contracted has not reached him derived from any virus, but from a bacteria with which the doctors are trying to find the true explanation that led him to suffer a syncope.
“I can’t do the beast, I have to be quiet for a couple of weeks to recover my lungs 100%,” he said upon leaving the hospital to later emphasize that, for him, this has been like being born again. “I take it with a sense of humor, I could be dead,” he joked.
Grateful to public health
Before going home with his partner Mónica and his uncle, the popular choreographer wanted to thank the vital role that public health professionals play in our country. “We have wonderful pubic health. Many countries envy us,” he stressed, making clear his deep gratitude to the team that has treated him since he arrived at the Madrid hospital on April 3.
