Last night was Summer Game Fest, the first event of the summer conference season. Hosted by Jeff Keely, the show was expected to feature two big reveals: Mortal Kombat 1 and Alan Wake 2 gameplay. Remedy’s long-awaited game delivered on its promise, but some fans were left expecting more.
In this regard, Remedy explained why the gameplay of Alan Wake 2 at Summer Game Fest was so short. Namely, Communications Director Thomas Puha explained the situation in a message posted on his Twitter account.
The appearance of Alan Wake 2 at Summer Game Fest was relatively late for us, so we tried our best to film the gameplay of our demo, which in a matter of minutes would introduce what the game is about. Actually, it is very difficult to do this, because the missions are very long.
The continuation of Summer Game Fest is Play Days, a two-day event where several games are shown to the press. There will be our demo. Why do we need to show a long demo on the stream? I admit, this decision is a bit confusing. That’s why we’re showing a 30-minute press demo at Play Days.
Obviously, Remedy just couldn’t show a half-hour gameplay demo at Summer Game Fest.
Alan Wake 2 will release on October 17 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
