Musical and Artistic Delights: Quico Comesaña and Paco Ibanez Perform, Alongside Art Exhibition by Sofía Brito

The musician, who has just been distinguished with the Martín Códax Award in the folk category, presented a new band and a new style. With themes structured like a symphony, he offered an instrumental recital with guitar, harp and percussion, in which he reflected on nature and its conservation. “It is, as Comesaña himself warned, a special record, “Mae”, made for me, my pending subject”.

In the Mar de Vigo Auditorium there was also an evening on the surface. Paco Ibanez He took the microphone to offer a protest concert, with many poems made into songs. His performance, as part of the “We have the word left” tour, was complemented by a poetry recital, organized by the Évame Oroza Association in the program for the centenary of the rhapsody. The book “Oroza 100” was presented at the event. “We wanted to leave testimony of such an important date and capture the different visions of Oroza from people who knew him, writers, artists, intellectuals or simply friends, in writing or in drawings and paintings, anecdotes or feelings regarding the poet, it is the best instrument to reflect their presence”, pointed out the editor Javier Romero. Ibáñez, a personal friend of the poet, interpreted several of his verses and shared his experiences with the poet who died in the city in 2015 and rests in Pereiró. He took Antonio García Teijeiro from Vigo on stage to interpret one of his texts, also set to music. There was also a tribute to Celso Emilio Ferreiro with “Inverno”.

In a day where music took center stage on the cultural agenda, the Camões Institute, in Casco Vello, hosted the inauguration of “Natures”, a selection of works by the Portuguese artist Sofía Brito. Create shapes from working with paper surfaces.

The exhibition is included in the program for the 25th anniversary of the Portuguese cultural center in the city.
