Mexico City /
Jay Beatty fulfilled one of his big dreams a few years ago. It was in May 2014 when the 11-year-old fan with Dow Syndrome was taken to the Celtic Park pitch by his favorite player, Georgios Samaras, during the celebrations of the title obtained in May 2014, in which he took a penalty that sent deep. from the goal, which was one of the most emotional goals in the team’s history.
Jay was also invited into the dressing room to speak to the team. before the game and at half time he had the opportunity to convert his historic goal, amid encouraging chants from the stands: “There’s only one Jay Beatty!”.
But that moment that he will always remember did not end there, as months later he won the Goal of the Month award from the Professional Scottish Football League in January 2015. Through social networks, 97 percent of the fans who participated in the vote chose the goal scored by Jay Beatty in that match.
Beatty was the main protagonist of the sixty-seventh MD Sports Grand Gala, in which the prizes were awarded and in which he was proclaimed the winner of the trophy for the Best Goal of the Month for January of the Scottish League, beating two Celtic players (Gary Mackay-Steven and Mikeal Lustig) and another from Aberdeen (David Goodwillie).
This historic and endearing victory for Jay filled the little boy with joy, who on February 9 collected the Sports Human Feat Trophy in Barcelona for his deep friendship with Georgios Samaras, and his family.
“We can not believe it, this is incredible and wonderful”said Martin, Jay’s father.
One of the players who joined the festivities was Samaras, now a member of Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli.
