Guatemala. With innovative dishes and facilities that evoke contemporary art, El Arte Steak House Restaurant opens its doors to offer a unique gastronomic experience in Guatemala.
The restaurant is located in an iconic property in zone 9 of Guatemala City, which has architecture from the 50s and majestic murals by the famous Guatemalan artist Carlos Mérida, who has inspired the new concept of the restaurant that seeks to merge culture, art and gastronomy.
In addition, the restaurant has ample outdoor space, with a 350-square-meter pergola immersed in a garden aesthetically adorned with trees and bamboo, and a wooden deck that allows you to live an outdoor experience. The breadth of the facilities also offers a variety of environments that accommodate the needs of any group, offering private rooms for social and business events.
In its launch stage, El Arte Steak House Restaurant will offer more than 100 direct jobs, and more than 50 indirect ones.
About the menu
Cesar Javier, Commercial Manager of El Arte Steak House Restaurant, shared that they are exploring molecular cuisine to present a sensory experience through the restaurant’s menu. “We have devised an innovative gastronomic proposal that will take steak house to a new level in Guatemala. The cuts and dishes that we offer are prepared with a mixture of innovative techniques, which we are sure will surprise anyone who comes to visit us”, he pointed out.
The iconic main dish is the “Queen of Art Barbecue” It is described as an abstract barbecue for the whole family, since it is a mixture of garnishes such as vegetables, rice, puree, beans, guacamole, and are accompanied by premium meats such as ribs restaurant’s flagship, which is cooked for 60 hours, and delicious hamburgers.
So well, El Arte Restaurant has a wide variety of starters, prepared under the new concept, such as: the spinach gratin, which fuses a cut of meat, artichoke, blue cheese and mushrooms. Another outstanding entry is the Peruvian ceviche, whose recipe has incorporated Guatemalan ingredients such as sweet corn and sweet potato.
Among the desserts offered by Restaurante El Arte is the house tiramisu, which is plated in a chocolate pot to create a unique abstract design. Similarly, on the menu it is possible to choose a mousse served in a ramekin or chocolate container.
Among the variety of drinks and cocktails, the “Mohana” stands out, which has a sweet flavor with notes of tropical fruits and infusions; “La Mentirosa”, a refreshing drink with mint, kiwi and tequila. In addition, on the menu it is possible to choose different exotic margaritas with fusions of mango, watermelon and pineapple.

About the venue
The property that gives life to the El Arte Steak House Restaurant has a lot of history and an invaluable cultural heritage, such as the two murals built by the Guatemalan artist Carlos Mérida in 1950.
The renowned artist learned the technique applied to both murals in Venice, and when building them he requested the mosaics from Italy. As Javier shares, one of the murals is a beautiful mosaic that assembles the colors: white, black, coffee and red wine and is located inside the house. The other is located just in front of the enclosure, and is a beautiful and colorful work of art, characteristic of the master.
According to experts, Carlos Mérida’s murals are a reference to the local modernism that was lived in that decade around the world, including Guatemala.
