It is an arm-wrestling which does not date from today. A standoff between a militant association, which multiplies the actions, and the institutions which try, with more or less will, to settle the question.
However, this Thursday, June 8, representatives of a ministerial commission met residents of working-class neighborhoods and Éric Piolle at the museum. An ideal opportunity for the DAL who challenged them, to the chagrin of the organizers of this meeting who had little taste for the intrusion. A member of DAL 38, Garance explains: “We have been fighting for more than a year, including the occupation of the Bonne barracks for six weeks. And we still haven’t had an appointment with Éric Piolle, so we took this opportunity. Because the City and the State constantly pass the buck; but they are not bullets, they are human beings”.
Human beings who survive in several schools in the city or, like Moïse, who have occupied the former Jean-Macé school since September 2022. “We want everyone to be housed,” he said. In Jean-Macé, the conditions are difficult, precarious, the premises are not suitable and partly unsanitary”. According to the DAL, about thirty families live there, including 18 children. “Two were born there this year,” recalls Garance.
An exchange with the City but no compromise found
This new action, the DAL combined it with a crisis resolution protocol that it had sent to the City. Who did not accept it this Friday noon during an exchange in the auditorium.
Céline Deslattes, councilor delegated to the great precariousness, explains why: “With Nicolas Beron-Perez (Grenoblois elected representative and vice-president of the Metropolis in charge of housing), we met them and told them again that accommodation is a skill of State. The DAL wanted us to support these people but we do not have the capacity. We already host 224 people. So yes, we hear that they are not happy and we know very well that it is about people. Moreover, with the CCAS, we have sheltered 12 families since the beginning of the school year. “And to slip:” To make us pass for the bad guys while we pursue the same objective as the DAL does not make sense. »
An argument which does not convince the DAL, which left the auditorium during the day this Friday, June 9 when a banner indicated however that it would not move in the absence of a solution: “We are very disappointed with the no -response from the City, they say. But other actions will be carried out until we sit around a table with the institutions that we had all contacted (City, Metropolis, Department, State). And I remind you that a deliberation of the city council in June 2022 announced the launch of the requisition experiment, but nothing has happened since, they don’t care about us. We are waiting for concrete actions, for the City to make the words and actions consistent. »
June could be lively.
See you Monday in front of the prefecture?
Last Monday, after learning of the government’s plan to tackle the housing crisisNicolas Beron-Perez, vice-president of the Métropole, had set up his tent on the lawn of the Place de Verdun, opposite the prefecture, to spend the night there and send a message to the State : « The account is not there. »
By promising to return the following Monday. This time he could be less alone. This is in any case the opinion of Céline Deslattes : « We call on elected officials and municipalities to gather every Monday in front of the prefecture, as is the case in other large cities in France facing the same problem.
Nicolas Beron-Perez had hammered : « It is not normal for children to sleep in schools, not normal for groups of parents to take over from the public authorities. It must be said that enough is enough. »
Collectives and associations could join the movement.
