SI IBU PERTIWI CANDU: Innovation to Alert Pregnant Women for Triple Elimination Examination at Posyandu

METROPOLITAN.ID – The Curug Health Center, Bogor Regency, presents a new innovation called SI IBU PERTIWI CANDU (Alert Pregnant Women for Triple Elimination Examination at Posyandu).

In order to increase the coverage of triple elimination examinations for pregnant women in their working areas.

This program aims to ensure the health of pregnant women and prevent transmission of infectious diseases such as HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), syphilis and hepatitis B from mother to fetus.

Through Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No. 52 of 2017 concerning eliminating transmission of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B from mother to child, the government is taking serious steps to tackle these three diseases.

Data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2021 shows that the prevalence of HIV-infected pregnant women reaches 0.18% and hepatitis B infection is 1.61%.

In Bogor District alone, there were 4,455 pregnant women diagnosed with HIV and 47,550 pregnant women infected with hepatitis B.

In 2021, the Curug Health Center recorded 42 HIV positive pregnant women, 20 syphilis positive pregnant women, and 770 hepatitis B positive pregnant women in their area.

However, the coverage of triple elimination examinations at the Curug Health Center was still low, only reaching 2.64% of the target of 90%. Only 12 out of 453 pregnant women underwent the examination, and there were 2 pregnant women who were found positive for hepatitis B.

This situation is of serious concern, considering that the transmission of these three diseases from mother to child can be prevented with simple interventions in the form of early detection during early pregnancy, early treatment after diagnosis, and immunization.

Unfortunately, the lack of knowledge and information about these three diseases during pregnancy checks causes a high rate of transmission from mother to child.

In an effort to break the chain of transmission of this disease, the Curug Health Center in Bogor Regency introduced the SI IBU PERTIWI CANDU innovation.
