“The Most Charming and Attractive”: A Comedy With a Subtle Satire on the USSR

The director captured the spirit of that time.

The comedy “The Most Charming and Attractive” captures the viewer with its dynamic plot and brilliant acting. Only a few pay attention to the details in the picture that make fun of the USSR.

Nadia Klyueva had a girlfriend Susanna, played by Tatyana Vasilyeva. She worked in a modern office furnished with computers. Susanna herself was a psychologist-sociologist, but she lived much better than the hero engineers from the research institute. It is noteworthy that the most intelligent of all the characters, Gena Sysoev, generally looked like a loser against the background of Susanna.

The director thus showed that people engaged in real business could count on a modest existence. But those who were fond of near-scientific currents lived in a big way.

In those years, the situation in the country was changing diametrically, which the director reflected in the film. But he did so through hints and details that the censors did not catch the eye of. Therefore, the film was allowed to be shown without any problems.
