KOŠICE – Slovak hockey forward Mário Lunter returned to the Slovak extra league after almost four years and became a player for HC Košice. On the official website, the club also informed about the extension of cooperation with the American forward Hunter Fejes.
During the 2019/2020 season, Lunter headed to Mladá Boleslav and worked in the Czech extra-league team until the end of the 2022/2023 season. He concluded by participating in the World Championship in Riga, which was his third in his career. In the Slovak extra league, he has so far only worn the jersey of his parent Banská Bystrica, with whom he won the championship.
“I decided for Košice thanks to Gabriel Spilar and his humanity and approach when solving the contract. Of course, I like Košice as a club and a city, I got to know them a little during the home WC in 2019. The hall is beautiful, there are great fans and the coach , with whom we know each other, so it made sense to me.
I am looking forward to all my teammates, especially Marek Bartánus, whom I know very well and who, among other things, told me that there is a great team in the dressing room. This is very important for hockey. I have already played the Champions League.
They will be quality matches and I think they will really test us. It will be a step faster, but we will give it our all in every match.” noted Lunter for the club site.
The star from last season remains
Striker Hunter Fejes, who in the 2022/2023 season was one of the team’s key players on the way to the championship, will also wear the “steel” jersey.
He played 7 games in the regular season, in which he collected 10 points for 6 goals and 4 assists. In the playoffs, he added 11 points (6+5) in 17 games. He also presented himself with two hat tricks.
