According to the Geophysical Institute at the BAS, the magnitude is 4.7 on the Richter scale, and the depth is 4.5 km. The epicenter is between Sadovo around Asenovgrad.
The tremor lasted about 10-12 seconds. “It shook like a bomb,” wrote Asenovgrad residents.

It was also felt in Velingrad, Veliko Tarnovo, Pazardjik, Peshtera, Ruse – 209 km from the epicenter, Vratsa, Pernik, Shumen, Komotini, Seres. The tremor was felt slightly in Athens as well as in Romania.
The earthquake was strongly felt in Stara Zagora. Sofia residents on the higher floors have felt shaking.
