Isabel Ødegård Skolmen’s Modeling Career Led to Singing for Madonna’s Birthday

Isabel Ødegård Skolmen (47) is now primarily known as an artist and actor – and has, among other things, appeared in the NRK series “Side om side”.

What perhaps not everyone knows is that the 48-year-old from Narvik began her career as a model – and that she has attended fashion shows with stars such as Naomi Campbell (53) and Kate Moss (49).

Model life also offered a number of exciting celebrity parties, and it is a very special occasion that she talks about in the last episode of “The Kåss Furuseths” podcast. She was a guest there with her husband Christian Skolmen (52).

Skolmen initially says that she is grateful for the opportunities her modeling career gave her, such as the fact that she got to travel around the world and was invited to fun parties.

She then moves into a rather special story that features a birthday song, gaps between her teeth and the Queen of Pop herself.

Sends jabs at the husband

– I dated someone who was very good friends with Madonna’s manager. I also spent a bit of time back and forth in the studio here in Norway, so the man I was dating knew that I liked to sing and thought I was good. He therefore asked if I would like to sing the birthday song for the birthday of a friend of a friend of his, he also wanted me to go on a bit.

The “birthday child” turned out to be Madonna – something Isabel did not know beforehand. In front of Dagbladet, she describes performing as “quite stressful”.

– When I entered the room and saw that the stage was set for a very nice party, with a stage and violent things, then I realized that the birthday I had agreed to sing at was bigger than I thought.

Skolmen explains that the room was the size of Chat Noir, and had large, round tables, high under the ceiling and a violent rig. The 47-year-old was placed on the same table as the main guest.

– After I had sung, I had to try to catch up with the damn situation. I was in shock. She was a star and a diva, so I was completely quiet and just thought “what on earth have I been involved in? That must be the sickest thing.” Something so stupid. What was she thinking?

However, the song-loving model received no thanks from Madonna, but later in the evening she suddenly turned towards Isabel.

– She said nothing after the birthday song, it was completely quiet. She looked at me and studied me a bit now and then, but then suddenly she said “I love your gap”.

Madonna was referring to the space Isabel had between her teeth at the time, which she explains was larger then than now.

– She had that too, so then we had something in common.

Isabel eventually had to sneak out of the room in the direction of the toilets “to breathe a bit”. There she went straight for two of the guests.

– There stood Michael Douglas (78) and Robert De Niro (79). They had been there and caught up with the start of the company, including the song, and then they were going to leave. I just thought “father, have they got it too”, but I was so starstruck that I just had to say something – so I asked if they were on their way out, which they were.

– It was quite an evening. Totally damn right then and there, but very fun to tell my children now.
