Teenager Allegedly Exposed to Toxic Substance in Oslo: Police Investigate

An area on Bøler in Oslo was cordoned off on Thursday afternoon after a minor reportedly got an unknown liquid substance on himself.

A few hours later, the person felt unwell, and the police were contacted at 4pm. according to NRK should it be about a teenage boy.

The police chief on the scene. Tore Barstad, will not say what kind of substance it is, but that according to the person who reported the matter, it must be a toxic and dangerous substance.

– This is a substance that we describe as extremely toxic and very dangerous. When we receive such telephone inquiries, there are procedures for how to extract a patient, clean him and transport him to hospital in a safe manner.

– Only the imagination sets limits on what it can be used for. Here, someone has done something that has not been wise and ended up in a predicament, says the task leader.

Quick test gave no answer

At 18.42 the police stated that they were waiting for a response to a rapid test. Task leader Barstad says that the rapid test did not give a clear answer.

The substance is therefore transported for analysis at the Norwegian Defense Research Institute (FFI), which has quickly opened its laboratory.

The task leader will not go into whether this type of substance can be linked to use in acts of terrorism.

Press officer Kathinka Bratberg at FFI tells NTB that they do not comment on ongoing investigations. Nor can she answer when they have an answer to their analyses.

Three persons

Three people were in the apartment when the police received a report about the case at 5pm on Thursday. All of these have been taken out of the apartment and taken care of.

The neighbors have been asked to stay in their apartments, and a safe zone has been set up around the building. It is unclear how long they will have to stay in the apartments.

At the same time, the police emphasize that there is no danger to those staying in the area.
