Gerindra Responds to PKB’s Evaluation of Prabowo as Presidential Candidate in 2024 Election

The Gerindra Party responded to the statement by Deputy Chairman of PKB Jazilul Fawaid who said he would evaluate support for Prabowo Subianto Of 2024 presidential election if you don’t declare a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) by the end of June 2023.

Gerindra Party DPP Daily Chairperson Sufmi Dasco Ahmad thinks this is input and not as a threat to the coalition.

“I don’t think what Mr. Jazilul said was a threat because it was an input,” said Dasco at the parliament complex, Senayan, Thursday (8/6).

Dasco said Gerindra was open to Jazilul’s input. He also admitted that he would evaluate the steps of the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR) together with PKB.

“Of course we receive this input and evaluate it together and of course Gerindra and PKB will take these steps together,” he said.

Jazilul previously gave an ultimatum to the Gerindra Party to immediately determine the KKIR presidential and vice presidential candidates by the end of June 2023. He emphasized that the ultimatum was a suggestion from the PKB kiai and ulema who requested that the 2024 presidential election candidates be determined immediately.

Jazilul said the PKB’s clerics and clerics had been waiting for this matter for a long time, at least since the last Eid al-Fitr.

“Suggest to PKB General Chair Muhaimin Iskandar, make a decision immediately in June. If not, just neutralize (evaluate) again,” said Jazilul at the parliament complex, Senayan, Wednesday (7/6).

So far, PKB together with the Gerindra Party are members of the KKIR. However, until now they have not determined their official position regarding the presidential and vice presidential candidates that will be carried out in the 2024 presidential election.
