Iconic Music Store Owner in East Harlem, Vicente Barreiro, Passes Away

Vicente Barreiro, the owner of Casa Latina, the iconic music store in East Harlem, dies.

The information about his death was revealed by Jose Calderón of the WKCR FM station, who defined Barreiro as a living encyclopedia, because he knew about music culture and history like no other.

For more than 40 years Vicente and his wife Cristina maintained the store, considered an icon where the Latino community could find the widest collection of salsa, merengue and bolero classics in the Caribbean.
