At the presentationBespoke Life 2023“Samsung has announced its vision for the development and integration into a single exosystem of SmartThings smart home devices. In general, all new Bespoke series devices will receive Wi-Fi support and will use artificial intelligence in one way or another in their products. Including the new Bespoke Jet vacuum cleaner with AI Cleaning mode, which optimizes battery power and battery life depending on the type of floor. The company reported on its own environmental initiatives and introduced a new filter for Less Microfiber washing machines, which should reduce the release of microplastics into the world’s oceans.
Environmental Care: AI Energy Mode
Samsung’s new Bespoke series of home appliances will get a special AI Energy mode in the SmartThimgs app this year. Where it will be possible to monitor and manage the power consumption of each device. For example, a Bespoke refrigerator can automatically turn on energy saving mode after a certain consumption limit is exceeded. Bespoke washing machines with artificial intelligence can automatically recognize the weight of clothes and determine the amount of detergent needed to wash them, using them economically. And the AI Ecobubble technology allows you to reduce the use of water and, accordingly, the energy required to heat it. AI can reduce energy use by 20% for AI-enabled tumble dryers and air conditioners.
Samsung has also developed the Less Microfiber wash cycle, which reduces microplastic shedding by 54% using Ecobubble technology. The bubbles help dissolve and absorb the detergent, which saves heat and energy by preventing abrasion and micro-plastic release.
Samsung notes that five new Bespoke home appliances this year, including refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, air conditioners, and heating ecosystems, will feature an updated version of SmartThings AI Energy Mode, which will be available in 65 countries around the world.
Less Microfiber Filter: Stops 98% of microplastics
Samsung introduced the Less Microfiber filter to protect the oceans from plastic fibers, which can reduce microplastic emissions during washing by 98%. This result was obtained Ocean Wise Plastics Lab after washing 2 kg of 100% polyester clothing. The study compared the wash cycle for synthetic fabrics on the Samsung WW4000T and Less Microfiber Cycleon WW9400B washing machine models. The filter is easily mounted next to the washing machine and is designed to be used with any model. The Less Microfiber is made from recycled plastic and has a simple and durable design. The filter blades capture microplastics with a 65-70 micrometer mesh and collect them compactly, so the filter only needs to be cleaned once a month. The filter also connects to the Samsung SmartThings ecosystem via an app to monitor its fullness from 0 to 100% and notify users when it needs cleaning or repair.
Samsung Bespoke Jet AI Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Samsung calls the Bespoke Jet AI the world’s first AI cordless upright vacuum cleaner and auto-cleaning station for enhanced user experience. Its ultra-light 150g HexaJet motor delivers up to 280W of suction power with a maximum power consumption of 730W for up to 100 minutes of use on a single charge. Built-in 4500 mAh battery (which is 80% more than the previous model) and can withstand up to 500 charge cycles at 70% capacity.
It is the first AI-certified cordless vacuum cleaner UL Solutions, the leading independent security organization. AI cleaning mode is able to detect the type of floor to ensure maximum battery efficiency. In the AI cleaning mode, the vacuum cleaner first detects the brush load and air pressure to classify the floor type and automatically adjust the suction power and brush rotation speed. This mode (according to Samsung internal research, where 76% of cleaning was done on hardwood floors and 24% on carpet) reduces battery consumption by 14% and improves maneuverability (measured in accordance with the standard IEC 62885-2 CL. 7.3.9) by 6% with an active double brush.
The vacuum cleaner is equipped with new nozzles with built-in LED light, which helps to better see the dust in dark places. And, of course, it supports connection to the SmartThings app, which allows you to configure the vacuum cleaner, use the self-diagnosis function and receive notifications when preventive cleaning or filter replacement is needed.
The updated auto cleaning station of the vacuum cleaner uses the new Air Pulse technology to automatically empty the dust container, ensuring quick and hygienic cleaning. When the dust container is empty, Air Spin Edge technology spins the motor at up to 1000 rpm. And removes waste, including hair stuck in the grate of the dust bin. Also, the automatic cleaning station automatically closes the lid after each cleaning and has a multi-layer filtration system, which, according to the manufacturer, stops 99.999% of fine dust. What should appeal to users who care about hygiene.
In Ukraine, Samsung Bespoke Jet AI is expected in July, we will also learn about the retail price a little later.
