Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Cristiano Ronaldo, the Al-Nasr club player, said that his joining the Saudi League opened the way for other players, stressing that the arrival of Karim Benzema will increase competition in the competition.
The Portuguese star had moved to the ranks of the “Al-Alamy” team last January, before the French striker joined the “Tigers” team recently.
Speaking after the launch of a water brand in the Spanish capital, Madrid, Ronaldo said: “Let me disturb some people a little, I knew that going to Saudi Arabia would open the box (the field for others), and I was not mistaken,” according to Eurosport.
He continued by saying, “I am sure that the Saudi League will become one of the best leagues around the world within two or three years. We can already see that.”
Cristiano Ronaldo added: “Benzema has already come, and I’m 1000% sure that many players will.”
And the Portuguese star continued: “What we want is more competition. When there is competition, it benefits marketing.”
On the possibility of owning a club in the future, he said: “I will not rule it out, I have never closed any doors, and I am looking forward to this possibility. Let’s see how football develops, and how leagues develop. Let’s look at Europe, let’s look abroad. I don’t rule that out. I thought about it two years ago, yeah, maybe in the future, good idea.”
