Aston Martin’s First Electric Car to Arrive in 2026, but Plug-in Hybrids Remain Focus

The British supercar manufacturer Aston Martin, just like all its competitors, follows the trends and develops its first full-fledged electric car – the owner of the car manufacturer, Lawrence Stroll, in an interview Autocar stated that the development of the model is going according to plan, but it will arrive at customers around 2026.

On June 27, the automaker will provide more information about all the machines that are expected to be presented in the next five years – including hybrids and also electric cars. However, according to Stroll, it is clear that Aston Martin will not focus much on expanding the offer of electric cars for the time being, instead developing more plug-in hybrids and combining the two worlds – internal combustion engine and electric drive. “I don’t have many customers who are asking for an electric car at the moment,” says Stroll in an interview.

This does not mean that Aston Martin is holding back and simply creating an electric car for the sake of it – company representatives emphasize that it will be a completely new product created on a new platform. There is no question of placing batteries in an old platform designed for an internal combustion engine.

The technologies used by Aston Martin will not be related to the Chinese concern Geely, which recently bought new Aston Martin shares. The British manufacturer has its own plans and ideas on how to offer electromobility to its customers. The company’s boss is convinced that plug-in hybrids are currently the direction that is most suitable for Aston Martin, and Stroll thinks that this technology will be relevant for a long time in the next decade.
