Jakarta –
Muhammad Rashid Ghifary, a student of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, ITB, died while testing the unmanned aircraft he created. Rasyid was hit by an unmanned aircraft peg that was pulled from the ground.
As quoted detikjabar, Thursday (8/6/2023), Rasyid was testing an unmanned aircraft with his colleagues at UKM Aksantara ITB. The pegs were uprooted because of the wet soil conditions.
“It rained on Tuesday afternoon, then after it stopped they tried. But because Monday (5/6), Tuesday (6/6) it was raining the ground was wet, so he drove a stake into the ground. So because it was wet, it was not strong, ” said the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering ITB, Prof. Dr. Tatacipta Dirgantara, Wednesday (7/6).
Tata said that when the jumper was pulled, the stake was pulled from the ground and the rubber hit Rasyid and one of his friends. Rashid was hit in the fatal area.
“Regarding the two people, one is fine, it just gets hit by the hand,” he explained.
He emphasized that the accident purely occurred because of the wet soil conditions which caused the pegs to be pulled out. Meanwhile, from the unmanned aircraft side, it is certain that there will be no problems.
“That plane wants to be tested, the plane doesn’t have any problems, but the problem is the ejection of the plane,” he said.
