New driver receives 16 points after extreme driving behaviour

A drive on Andebuveien in Tønsberg was the last for a while for a new driver on Wednesday evening.

UP stopped the man and handed out a total of 16 dots.

The driver took a few minutes to get the points, after what the police describe as “extreme driving behaviour”.

Dangerous overtaking

– He had an extreme driving style with three serious offences, says operations manager Trond Egil Groth to NRK.

The driver is said not to have had his driving license for many months.

– He drove over the barricade at the same time as he was talking on the mobile phone and had a dangerous overtake, he says.

Did not consent

The man pleaded not guilty and did not consent to the suspension of his driving licence.

– He will have to manage without it for a long time, he says.

The UP patrol did not report the man for speeding.

Driving license on probation

According to the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, you have a two-year probationary period after you have obtained your driving licence.

During this period, the number of points you get doubles.
