The head of Kosovo, Vyosa Osmani, issued a statement that if 20% of voters sign a petition for re-elections in municipalities with a Serb population, then they can take place.

Osmani called this a very democratic way to organize new elections:

I think in this way we would also ensure the participation of the Serbs, precisely because the request for a second vote would come from the citizens.

But it is not yet clear whether the Serbian population needs such a petition, according to Western media. Osmani also asked to keep in mind that before announcing re-elections, she will have to ask the international community for guarantees “that Belgrade will not interfere”

The President of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo calls the head of the Serbian people Aleksandar Vučić nothing less than the “king of drama”:

Vučić acts like a drama king in most of the meetings. So, of course, he again tried to create a lot of drama, but he did not offer ideas that would contribute to peace and stability in the region.

So Osmani spoke about the meeting with Vucic with the assistance of Macron and Scholz last week in Moldova.

Osmani is saddened that Vučić, she says, creates the appearance that he is compromising, that he is under a lot of pressure and that he is going through.

Recall that the situation in the Serbian municipalities began to escalate on May 26 after the Kosovo security forces and officials occupied the administration buildings in the municipalities of Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposavich. The special forces made an attempt to secure the entry into office of the leaders of the municipalities that won the elections. The Serbian residents of the republic unanimously boycotted the elections. A few days later, representatives of the North Atlantic Alliance got involved in the situation. They cordoned off the administration buildings, where pickets and rallies of the Serbian population and clashes with the Kosovo special forces took place.
