Already at the end of June, NHL clubs will choose from young talents. While the draft already has its unquestionable and absolute unit in the form of the Canadian Connor Bedard, who will become the Slovak one is still questionable and several experts do not agree on the same name.
Although the sensation from last year, when Juraj Slafkovský, Šimon Nemec and Filip Mešár won the draft, will not be repeated, the names of some players from the Tatras should already be heard in the first round. Some experts consider Dalibor Dvorský to be this season’s Slovak unit.
However, Tony Ferrari from The Hockey News. He ranked striker Alex Čiernik higher in his ranking. “Ciernik is one of the most powerful skaters in the draft, who uses his speed to transfer weight and make defenders wary. The young Slovak played in the second Swedish league just like Dvorský and scored more often than his compatriot.
Čiernik is a playmaker and allows his teammates to disappear in space as he controls the puck and draws defenders. He plays very skillfully and likes to test the limits of his passing skills. His shot is getting better, but he’s a playmaker at heart.”

While the young winger was ranked 19th by the journalist, Dalibor Dvorský was ranked 21st. Several experts have problems estimating the size of its potential and their opinions are divided into two camps. “Some believe that Dvorský will be the center of the first six, who has excellent goal-scoring abilities and can be the “man” in his formation, as he was in the under-18 national team.
Others think he will be a solid two-way center who will play in the third formation and be involved in the power plays, while his performance at the U18 World Cup was more of a case of a physically mature player taking on less physically mature players. I saw a player who is a good finisher but will need a high level player next to him.
His defensive positioning is good, but he breaks down when he’s closed in his own zone. His speed and explosiveness aren’t exactly at the level you’d like to see in a top center. When carrying the puck, a decrease in his speed and dexterity is also visible, when he has the puck on his stick, he becomes more of an average skater.”
Tony Ferrari also included Martin Mišiak (35th), Samuel Honzek (44th), Maxim Štrbák (60th) and Juraj Pekarčík (99th) in his top 100 list.
