A DPZ S-Bahn composition, as is sometimes used at weekends on the IR line from Lucerne to Zurich. It offers significantly less comfort than the new FV-Dosto or the modernized IC 2000 that are normally used on this route.

The recently modernized, double-decker IC 2000 trains of the SBB provide reliable services on the Lucerne-Zürich line: comfortable seats, enough legroom, space for bicycles and luggage, practically no shaking, even on the upper floor, three seats per row in first class . These locomotive-hauled trains are used between Lucerne and Zurich alongside the new FV-Dosto long-distance double-decker trains.
