Tightrope walk – politics is staging

Politics likes to bask in successful projects: In Kottingneusiedl, there is a 6,000 square meter PV system that generates 2.2 gigawatt hours of electricity per year, which flows exclusively into the power supply for the railways. On Monday, the Minister of the Environment was placed in this solar power plant and the plant was presented as a new showcase project.

Small blemish: The system was put into operation and celebrated in November 2021. In terms of content, the minister in Kottingneusiedl was not able to present much that was new when the NÖN reported in 2021. And: there is a similar PV power plant in Ladendorf. The fact that ÖBB wants to shade parking spaces with PV system roofs is nice, but not new: Jungbunzlauer in Pernhofen and LaaPlus in Laa are already doing this.

The only real innovation: beehives are to move into the solar park and produce honey there.

Great, the minister has to travel for that.
