Akhil Sathyan’s film Pachuvum Mihawavilakum is progressing with mixed response even after OTT. Director Akhil Sathyan talks about the features of the film and the factors that influenced the direction.
Akhil said that Patchu and Mihawavilak is a film written for actor Nivin Pauly. He said that the story of the film was due to Nivin. He was speaking in an interview with The Fourth.
‘The patch and the miracle lamp were first thought of for you. Nivin is really the reason behind the story of Patchu. The first thing I said was a family story. Nivin said let’s think of another event other than family. A trigger arises from that. At that time, the port was full and you were busy. Then DateClash happened.
I casually called Fahad. I relate to Fahad the most. I narrated the story to Fahad in one sitting. Then Fahad liked it and said he can do this project. You had no other problem. Pulli was busy elsewhere.
In the interview, he also talked about the films that attracted him to cinema. He said that it was Mani Ratnam films that attracted him and his brother to the film industry and he understood the value of his father Sathyan Athikad’s films from the time he started making films.
‘I saw a shooting set for the first time after I was 25 years old. I remember going to Madras when I was young to shoot the fight scene of the film Pingami. But I have not seen the shoot. Didn’t know any actors. It was here that I met Vineeth Srinivasan. I don’t know Dhyan Srinivasan. Seeing Dulquer and Fahadh has come in the movie. My brother and I felt like getting into cinema after watching Mani Ratnam movies. My father’s movies are ‘easy watch, easy go’. It is only when I started making my own films that I realized the value of my father’s films. I didn’t understand its value then. Today its price is well known,’ said Akhil Sathyan.
