The health of Hannibal Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has deteriorated after three days of hunger strike to protest his detention in Lebanon without trial, according to his lawyer.

Lawyer Paul Romanos explained that Gaddafi’s son suffers from headaches, muscle pain, and difficulty in movement.

Hannibal Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, had announced a hunger strike, in protest of the Lebanese judiciary’s continued detention of him for 8 years, as well as his ill-treatment, in a move that would bring his file back to the fore again.

The disappearance of Musa al-Sadr

The Lebanese judiciary charges Muammar Gaddafi’s son with “concealing information related to the fate of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his two companions, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoub and journalist Abbas Badr al-Din, who went missing in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, in 1978, after their arrival at the invitation of Muammar Gaddafi, and participating in the crime of hiding them.”

And in protest at his continued detention since 2015, Hannibal Gaddafi announced, on Saturday, that he had entered a hunger strike in his detention center, in protest against what he considered “arbitrary and political arrest” and denouncing the procrastination in resolving his case and his exposure to injustice, on the background of his accusation of involvement in the kidnapping of Mr. Musa al-Sadr in 1978. in the capital, Tripoli.

Hannibal Gaddafi said in a statement issued by the media office of his client, Paul Romanos, published by Lebanese media: “After the persistence of the oppression of my right without any accountability and deafening the ears of those entrusted with preserving human rights and throwing their legitimacy to the wind, I declared my hunger strike and I bear all the consequences and full responsibilities for those involved in my persistence.” Injustice is against me. The time has come to liberate the law from the hands of politicians.”

The son of the late leader, Muammar Gaddafi, demanded his release from prisons in Lebanon, saying: “In the face of the persistent injustice and injustice against me, the time has come to release me after more than 10 years have passed in prison following my arrest and the prosecution against me on charges that I did not commit. About the flagrant violation of the legitimacy of human rights, and he was the one who participated in its formulation? How is it possible that a political prisoner was left without a fair trial for all these years?”

The file of Gaddafi’s son is still without a judicial settlement, despite the attempts of several Libyan parties to intervene in order to obtain his release, and despite the negotiations that took place between his defense team and the committee in charge of the al-Sadr case.

In the same context, the government of Abdel Hamid al-Dabiba is facing pressure from supporters and tribes of the former regime to intervene with the Lebanese judiciary in order to release Hannibal Gaddafi.

In the investigations, Gaddafi’s son maintained his innocence in the case of Musa al-Sadr’s disappearance in his country, and says that he does not have any information because the incident occurred when he was a two-year-old child, and that only his older brother Saif al-Islam Gaddafi and former Prime Minister Abdel Salam Jalloud know about his disappearance, along with His father’s relative, Ahmed Qaddaf Al-Dam, resides in Cairo and former Foreign Minister Musa Koussa.
