Škoda Auto Begins Pre-Series Production of Second Generation Kodiaq SUV at Kvasiny Plant

Kvasiny (Rychnovsko) – Škoda Auto has started pre-series production of the second generation Kodiaq SUV at the Kvasiny plant in Rychnovsko. He is investing around 280 million crowns in the reconstruction of the production line. Series production will begin in 2024, the car will be presented to the public this fall, the automaker said in a press release today. The first generation of the Kodiaq model has been produced by the car factory in Kvasiny since autumn 2016.

The production of the Kodiaq model will be, as before, on the lines from which the Superb model is also produced. According to the automaker, after the production of the new Superb generation is transferred to Bratislava at the beginning of 2024, space will be freed up in Kvasiny for the annual production of another 150,000 units of the Kodiaq and Karoq SUV models. After rebuilding the line, up to 410 second-generation Kodiaq cars should leave it daily.

Since 2016, Škoda has produced over 800,000 units of the Kodiaq model. In addition to Kvasin, plants in Ukraine, China, India and, until production stops in March 2022, also participated in the production in Russia.

Last year, the carmaker produced 221,000 Superb, Superb Combi, Superb iV, Karoq and Kodiaq cars at the plant in Kvasiny. So far, Kvasiny produced the most, 320,000 cars, in 2019. The main plant in Mladá Boleslav produced 415,000 cars last year.

The automobile plant in Kvasiny employs about 9,000 people, the plant is the largest employer in the Hradec Králové region. Kvasiny should be the plant where Škoda Auto will produce cars with combustion engines in the Czech Republic for the longest time.
