Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Planning Terrorist Attacks with ‘Dirty Bombs’ in Russia

Ukraine’s military intelligence is planning terrorist attacks in the Russian Federation, including using a “dirty bomb,” the Public Relations Center of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) reported to TASS.

“The Federal Security Service received additional data on the participation of the special services of Ukraine in the planning and preparation of acts of international terrorism,” the statement said. It specifies that the Main Directorate for Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is planning to commit a terrorist act on the territory of Russia with the use of a “dirty bomb”.

The head of the GUR, Kiril Budanov, has ordered the creation of a third service, which includes light motor aviation to supply sabotage and intelligence groups on the territory of Russia with means of striking, as well as for striking the energy infrastructure, the Russian side claims.

According to FSB information, the coordination of the use of light motor aviation is assigned to military unit No. 3449 with the conditional name “Legion”, which is part of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“A plan was developed to deliver and plant so-called dirty bombs equipped with delay timers that would explode simultaneously and render the area uninhabitable,” the press center reported.

According to the FSB, since the beginning of 2023, this GUR unit has planned and carried out five combat missions on Russian territory, during which it caused damage to energy facilities in the Russian regions bordering Ukraine.”

“As a result of the special operations carried out, two pilots were detained, who gave statements about terrorist attacks carried out and planned by the GUR”, the FSB announced.
