According to an event announcement by the nature park, the Lauterach valley in the Hirschwald nature park is a nationwide area known to butterfly connoisseurs. The stable occurrence of the Common Swallowtail Butterfly has gained particular fame. Butterflies have always fascinated people, it is said. During a short hike on Saturday, June 10th at 8 a.m., there is a chance to see many different species and identify them together with the ranger. Watching butterflies is not only wonderful, but also has a special goal in educational work: Observing the knowledge of the species in the population improves again. Butterflies are particularly well suited for training one’s own species knowledge. As you get to know butterflies, you gradually learn about their caterpillar food plants.
According to the information, the route is not barrier-free. This event is aimed more at adults. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather, sturdy, weather-resistant shoes are required. You should bring your own binoculars. The Hirschwald Nature Park also provides rental binoculars.
The meeting point for the free hike, which lasts about two to three hours and is limited to 20 participants, is the public car park in Schmidmühlen at the art hiking station. Register by Thursday, June 8th on the Hirschwald Nature Park website www.naturparkhirschwald.de.
