FC Porto Wins 19th Portuguese Cup with Blue and White Victory and Two Straight Red Cards

FC Porto won the Portuguese Cup this Sunday, after beating Sporting de Braga by 2-0. In a match almost always dominated by the dragons, in the 53rd minute an own goal by André Horta put the team in advantage.

Moments of great bickering followed, with several cards for both sides, including two straight reds and ten yellow cards. The first for Wendell, FC Porto’s left-back, who had a very hard tackle on Victor Gómez, and the second for Niakaté, Sporting de Braga’s centre-back, who prevented Taremi from going into goal alone.

FC Porto thus won its 19th Portuguese Cup, revalidating the title won last year. It is also the third time that Sérgio Conceição has won the premier class as coach of the dragons.

The dragons join the Portuguese Cup to the League Cup and the Super Cup, having only failed to win the championship, won by Benfica last weekend.
