Six people were injured in a suspected street race in Helmond last night. A passenger car collided around 9:30 p.m. with a taxi van that was stopped at a traffic light.

The police found a great havoc at the scene of the accident on the Europaweg. Several injured lay in the street, reports Broadcasting Brabant.

The four occupants of the car were seriously injured, according to police. The men, aged 16 to 33, were taken to hospital. Three of them were able to go home today.

There were two people in the taxi van: a 56-year-old driver and a 24-year-old passenger. Both suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for a check-up.

The initial investigation revealed that the passenger car may have been involved in a street race. Another passenger car, which presumably also participated, drove on after the collision. Police are now speaking to witnesses and are investigating. No one has been arrested yet.
