Czech Celebrities Split on Government Austerity Package

The theme of the savings package also resonates in Czech show business. Some celebrities support government cuts, while others are fundamentally against it. The editors of TN.cz asked what celebrities think about the proposed changes. According to actor Václav Vydra, this is a brave step. However, Ivan Vyskočil opposes with the opinion that it is a scam.

People’s opinions on the government’s austerity package differ, and so do Czech celebrities. They split into imaginary two camps. Some stars support the government’s proposal, while others have significant doubts. While Václav Vydra speaks of respect, Helena Vondráčková is worried about ordinary people.

Those who are afraid are not allowed in the forest

According to actor Václav Vydra, sometimes you have to take big steps. “I think that if the consolidation package is a necessary thing, then we probably have nothing else left. I am not an expert in the economy, so I have no choice but to trust those who understand it and have the authority to decide on it,” Vydra revealed his view.

“So far I don’t feel that it will affect me in any way. As for fear, you know, those who are afraid are not allowed in the forest, fear is a bad advisor in these measures. It is very easy to criticize and very difficult to decide and enforce something, so I I prefer to refrain from any criticism. I know that something needs to be done, but we’ll see how it develops. I don’t think that anyone wants to destroy us on purpose,” the actor defended the politicians’ actions.

Vondráčková is worried

However, Helena Vondráčková fears the effects of the consolidation package. According to her, he could cause people big problems. “I would just say it briefly. I feel that it will cause life complications for many people, and I think poor people will be affected the worst,” said the legendary singer.

It’s not right, they should start saving with themselves

Heidi Janků prefers to prepare for an uncertain future in her own way. “I don’t follow politics much anymore, because it annoys me a lot lately. But since I’m already at an age where I think that something could happen to me, for example if I was sick, so that I could pay for care and everything around. That’s why I’ve been relying mainly on myself for a long time, so I’m not spendthrift and rather save for myself and don’t rely on the government,” commented singer Heidi Janků.

“I’ve only been watching this from the sidelines, but I think it’s definitely not right. I don’t even count on having a big pension anymore, even though I do my taxes all the time and work when possible. I’m not going to to retirement and I would like to continue working, but I expect to have some financial cushion,” added the 90s icon.

They see various loopholes in the austerity package. “Furthermore, some steps, for example the non-taxation of wine and other alcohol, yes, seem completely pointless to me, rather it looks like some kind of lobbying. Of course, I know that the coffers are not full and savings must be made somewhere, but I think that those ways could be found elsewhere . We really have a lot of civil servants,” the singer pointed out that the public sector should be reduced.

The actress Zlata Adamovská also agreed with this. “Well, I wouldn’t want to retire at the age of 70. For example, regarding the highway stamp, if the higher price meant that the highways would be great, then I would like to pay more, but let them work and not repair them forever. Especially if I feel, that it is necessary to save, so I will start with myself,” Adamovská criticized state inefficiency.

It’s a piggery, says Vyskočil

Actor Ivan Vyskočil came up with a rather radical opinion. “You don’t even have to ask me about the package, it’s a piggery, and that’s the end of it. Of course, it affects me, just how they changed the law to take away the valorization of pensioners. So it directly affects me, but probably all people, such bullshit,” said the actor. “I don’t plan to save, but I do plan to do something. I want this government to fall,” concluded the frequent participant in anti-government demonstrations.

Heidi Janků is raving like a young woman. She revealed how she is with men (11/2022):
