Four victims of the program Traceless want compensation from broadcaster KRO-NCRV because of errors made in the program. The lawyer with whom they work, Annemiek van Spanje, says so RTL Boulevard. KRO-NCRV says it wants to wait for the ongoing investigation first.
Crime journalist Kees van der Spek revealed last year that participants of Traceless in Colombia were linked to the wrong biological parents. KRO-NCRV has asked company detective agency Hoffmann to start an independent investigation. The broadcaster has had several matches investigated, from which four mismatches have emerged so far.
“We have written to KRO-NCRV with a request for compensation, immaterial and material damage,” says Van Spanje to RTL Boulevard. “You have to imagine that you have been in contact with your mother for years, think you have found her and it turns out to be a strange woman. And they have incurred costs for flights and hotels. And some have supported relatives in Colombia and made payments.”
But, the lawyer tells the program, “there’s something else much more important.” “And that is the recognition that they have been terribly saddened by the way Traceless whether the editors have done their job, because that was careless.”
KRO-NCRV informs the entertainment program: “As we also told the lawyer of the formerTrackless Colombiaparticipants have indicated, we cannot anticipate the conclusions of the Hoffmann bureau. The investigation has not yet been completed. We will have to wait for the final report. Once the final report is available, we would like to discuss this with the relevant formerTraceless participants, in whom an incorrect match has been determined, in conversation.”
