Authorities confirm that the two men found dead in a parked car near a Brooklyn shelter were asylum seekers.
The victims, ages 24 and 25, respectively, were discovered unconscious inside a 2005 Nissan at Flushing and Scott avenues. two minutes from the shelter in Bushwick where they were living.
A spokesperson for the mayor’s office confirmed that they were asylum seekers.
The 24-year-old man was transported to Wyckoff Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 25-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, there was drug paraphernalia inside the car.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation continues.
