The height of the barriers that must be jumped over on a stick reaches up to 1.5 m

Are you into hobbyhorsing? Have you even heard of this sport? And in vain – they could get up to 300 thousand euros for winning the competition.

Hobbyhorsing is horse racing. If you drop it, points will be deducted. It is not easy to keep the “horse” in your hands, because you have to overcome barriers from 20 cm to 1.5 m high. And you need to jump over obstacles not as God puts it on your soul, but by imitating the behavior of a horse.

This fun is especially popular in Scandinavia; in Finland, even the national championship is held annually. Local filmmaker Selma Vilhunen devoted an entire film to hobbyhorsing in 2017 – Horseriding Revolution. And she made the right decision: she received two awards at the Tampere Film Festival. Although compared to the prize money for horse racing, this is a trifle.
