Were you born between January 1, 1996 and December 31, 2003 and have you not yet received all the necessary human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccinations? Then you can get a vaccine against the human papillomavirus (HPV) for free at the temporary pop-up vaccination location at Utrecht Central Station during the week from Monday 5 to Saturday 10 June.
The vaccination location can be found next to track 19. The location is open from Monday to Friday from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. You can walk in freely, making an appointment is not necessary. You also don’t have to live in the Utrecht region to get a vaccine here. Only bring a valid proof of identity (ID card, passport or driver’s license). Don’t miss it!
To give as many young adults as possible the chance to get this vaccination, this joint initiative of RIVM and the GGDs has been set up. The HPV virus is highly contagious and is spread through intimate contact. Every year, an estimated 1,500 people in the Netherlands get cancer due to HPV, about 1,100 women and 400 men. Vaccination significantly reduces the risk of HPV. The HPV vaccination protects against six types of cancer: in the mouth and pharynx and on the penis, anus, vagina, labia and cervix. The vaccine also protects young people who are already sexually active. In the Netherlands, the injection has been offered to girls since 2009. From 2022, boys will also be invited. More than a million young people have already been vaccinated. The effectiveness of the HPV vaccine is continuously studied, no permanent side effects have been found. For more information or help in making a choice, visit the website www.hpvkeuzehulp.nl.
Only during the HPV vaccination campaign in 2023, this vaccination for young adults born between January 1, 1996 and December 31, 2003 is free. To get both shots for free, you must have had the 1st before the summer and the 2nd before the end of the year. After 2023, the costs (from €350) will be for your own account.
You can visit the pop-up store in the station hall of Utrecht Central from Monday 5 to Saturday 10 June. The vaccination location is open Monday to Friday from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Bring a valid proof of identity (ID card, passport or driver’s license).
