West Ham Walks Off Field in Protest After Player Subjected to Racial Abuse at Mini-Soccer Tournament

Washington:The team walked off the field in protest after a West Ham player was subjected to racial abuse during a seven-a-side mini-soccer tournament in the US. The incident happened in the opening game against Dallas United on Thursday. The Dallas player racially abused West Ham’s Frank Noble when West Ham were 2-0 down. Later there was an argument on the ground. The team would have left the field under the leadership of Anton Ferdinand when it was noticed that there was racial abuse.

West Ham officials later said in a statement: ‘Our team-mates have made the decision to leave the ground due to racial abuse directed at our player.’ Dallas United pulled out of the tournament after the organizers announced an investigation.
