Dutch Legionnaire Justin Lonwijk Leaves Dynamo Kiev for Family Reasons Ahead of UPL Final Round

Justin Lonwijk will not take part in the final round of the UPL. The Dutch legionnaire went home for family reasons and will not play against Metalist 1925. We all understand that “family circumstances” are just a formality. In recent matches, Lonwijk has not received playing time. There was no point in leaving him.

When Nikolai Shaparenko received a severe knee injury in the first round match of the Europa League against Besiktas, Dynamo began to urgently look for a replacement for the leader in the middle of the field. We managed to reach an agreement with Lonveik. Denmark has very high taxes. Therefore, a contract with Dynamo is a good opportunity for him to earn money. Let’s call a spade a spade.

The Dutchman appeared in the capital of Ukraine thanks to the Italian company GG11, which is represented in Ukraine by Ivan Pirozhenko and Sasha Yakovenko. The latter at one time even played a little for Dynamo. I understand that Justin was offered. Lucescu approved. During the war, there cannot be a large selection of foreigners.

Lonwijk was very impressed. Has good anthropometry, works well with the ball, kick. Can play in several positions – the middle of the field, or on the flank. Passed school PSV. In recent years, he played in the Danish championship, which is quite similar in style to ours.

I was sure that after the winter training camp the Dutchman would become the main player of Dynamo. But it turned out the opposite. Lonwijk began to receive only less playing practice. Turned into a deep spare. At the end of the season, he lost the competition for the status of a rotation player to Andrievsky, Garmash and Shepelev.

Perhaps Justin has not yet been able to adapt to the team, or Lucescu’s coaching requirements? Perhaps he is closer to the positions of Sidorchuk and Buyalsky than Shaparenko? Perhaps there are some personal problems? I am more inclined to the version that there was no trust in him. Parris also sat for a long time and it seemed that his farewell to the club in the summer was obvious. And when they started betting, it turned out that he knows how to play football.

In the summer, competition in the middle of the field will only increase. Recovered from Shaparenko’s injury. Brazhko and Buleta should return from the lease. Andrievsky in April-May showed decent football. I really hope that Lonwijk will not be superfluous in this situation.

One of the main assets of the club is Shaparenko. If he can restore his playing and physical condition, he has a good chance of being sold next summer. So far, the Dynamo system does not have such a playing player in the middle of the field. Lucescu will be 78 years old this summer. His contract is for one more season. Sooner or later, Dynamo will have a new coach. Which can look at Justin from a different angle.

As this season shows, the competition and the depth of the squad can play a decisive role. Next season, Dynamo really needs to return the championship awards and perform well in European competition. Even if it’s the Conference League. On the contrary, it is an opportunity to reach significant stages of this tournament. Therefore, some amount of composition is very important.
