High-Speed Turnouts Transported from Austria for Central Railway Main Line Restoration

Modern high-speed turnouts transported from Austria in special Switcher wagons have been delivered to the Central Railway Main Line.

The KZN Bieżanów Group has gained further experience in the transport and unloading of turnouts enabling trains to travel at a speed of 250 km/h. The structures were delivered to Pilichowice, where a few months ago, as a result of an accident, the turnouts were damaged. Since then, the over thirty-kilometre section of the Central Railway Main Line has remained single-track.

The unloading took place on the night of 27/28 May. According to the company, KZN Rail, a company belonging to the Group, was responsible for carrying out the logistics campaign. Switcher wagons were used for transport, enabling safe transport of turnout blocks while maintaining the highest quality of the initial construction.

High speed turnouts are a key element of the infrastructure of the most important railway line. Exactly on January 9, approx. At 21.30, on the Central Railway Line in Pilichowice, two cars from the technical depot of the PPM-T company belonging to PKP PLK fell off the track. The event damaged two turnouts and about 200 meters of track. Even then it seemed that restoring full functionality of the line could take several months. An even more dangerous situation, fortunately without consequences, occurred at CMK at the beginning of May, when the train driver of IC Silesia managed to brake the train right in front of a group of workers.
