Striker Vagner Love, formerly of Corinthians and currently at Sport, was harassed by São Paulo fans at Morumbi in the match against the Pernambuco team in the second leg of the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.
Sport’s holder and top scorer in the season, Love was not available to coach Enderson Moreira because he suffered muscle discomfort and was cut from the relationship. The attacker, however, followed the game in the Morumbi box together with midfielder Fabinho, where they were harassed by the home team’s fans – see the video below.
Upon noticing the presence of Vágner Love, São Paulo fans gathered near the box and started throwing objects and cursing the athlete. In the images, it is possible to see that one of the artifacts fired almost hits Fabinho’s face, who was next to his partner.
Morumbi’s security team gathered around the box and, to contain the hostility, accompanied the removal of players from the area.
Even without Vágner Love, Sport beat São Paulo 3-1, tying the score on aggregate and taking the decision to penalties. Even with the feat, the team from Pernambuco was defeated by 5 to 3 for the home team and was eliminated from the Copa do Brasil. Timão’s rival, therefore, is one of the possible opponents of the club from Parque São Jorge in the quarterfinals of the tournament .
Love played in 121 games for Corinthians, adding two spells at the club, in 2015 and on his return in 2019, when he stayed until 2020. The player scored 29 goals for the club and won the Brazilian title and the Campeonato Paulista.
The striker even scored the goal for Timão do Paulistão’s 30th title, won precisely over São Paulo, in the 2019 edition. the additions of the second half, when Vágner Love received a good launch from Sornoza and finished first to put Corinthians back in front and give the cup to the club from Parque São Jorge.
