The youngest participant was a six year old boy, the oldest participant was 78 years old. The oldest doubted that the youngest would make it to Cibeo. “I don’t think the youngest also doubts that the oldest will be able to get to Cibeo,” said one of the participants, jokingly.
The oldest, Andi Sahrandi, has been to Cibeo many times. The youngest, his name is Nahleindra Syafathar, this is the first time he has to walk long distances up and down a hill. Both of them arrived at Cibeo.
The second oldest participant, 63 years old, emaciated, carries a backpack with coffee brewing equipment in it. You can also get to Cibeo because you are used to going up and down mountains during the Covid-19 pandemic.

There were 47 members of the group, consisting of members of the Bandung Student Association (PMB), the Merdeka Hiking Club community, ITB School of Business and Management students, and Jenggala Post volunteers. They departed from Bandung on Friday (26/5/2023) evening.
There are some young people who are overweight. Also managed to arrive at Cibeo. “Each climb up, No dare to look up so look down keep going No look at the height and length of the ramp,” said Tadya, who is overweight.
Going to Baduy Dalam village is different from climbing a mountain. “If we go up a mountain we measure ourselves, if we have already No strong we go down. If this, already No If you want to go home, you have to be strong, you have to go up and down hills, so it’s better to just continue until you reach your destination. Same tiredher,” said Rizal, who is also overweight.
The group had to take frequent breaks, so it took seven hours of travel time. “We usually take one hour to 1.5 hours,” said Sapri, a resident of Cibeo.
It could be. This is because the Baduy Dalam youth who carry visitors’ bags can run up the incline while carrying the load. However, they still have to accompany the group, including during breaks, because apart from being porters, they are also tasked with being guides.
“Feel tired and shock it really feels great for people who do it for the first time, but it all pays off with the extraordinary new knowledge that we can get, a very impressive experience that can be told with pride to people, “said Kamilah from the Bandung Student Association.
During a break at the border of the Outer Baduy and Inner Baduy, the second oldest group member took out his coffee brewing equipment. He turned on the gas stove, heated the water. The brewing tool he prepared. “Those who want coffee, here’s the glass,” he shouted Rudy RR, the second oldest participant.
There are others who rest by taking advantage of the time to lie down until they are completely asleep. Others are playing in the river. There are others who enjoy the glass noodles sold by Outer Baduy residents. There are also those who quench their thirst by buying ice sold by Outer Baduy children.
After the break, the group must climb the highest and longest incline during the trip. “Because of hiking my lungs are getting faster recoveryhim,” said Andi Kim, head of the MHC who was the leader of the Ulin ka Baduy group this time.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, MHC routinely climbed mountains around Bandung. Two-three times a month. “First time to Mount Burangrang, ngos–out of breath, even out thick phlegm. Check with the doctor recommended continued. After several trips to the mountains, it feels good for the lungs. Now it’s lighter,” said Kim, who had to undergo TB treatment.
This trip to the Inner Baduy via Ciboleger also taught us a lesson. One participant was reluctant to leave his bag with the porter, but when he got tired in the middle of the road he asked his friend to carry it. He drove waddle kangkong leaving a friend who brought his bag. His friend protested but he ignored it, until finally his bag was thrown by his friend. His friend no longer wants to carry his bag.
Sunday (28/5/2023) after eating durian at Sadim’s house in Cibeo, the person carrying the bag who was swinging the kale was also reprimanded by his senior, so he would not show ego. Even so, when he was about to go home, he still showed ego, so he had to wait for him when the participants were all ready. He even took a long bath in the river. He also got scolded again.
Because of waiting too long for the egoist, the Bandung poet Untung Wardoyo replaced his 2013 poem entitled “You” with the title “Baduy”. Untung has published two books of poetry: Journey Suni (2014) and Good luck Time (2021).
