Russia’s Military Superiority and Diplomatic Retaliation: Bad News for Ukraine

At the same time, Russia decided to impose sanctions against the country, which will cause economic damage to Poland in the amount of more than 8.5 billion euros.

“This is the first countermeasure taken by Russia against a Western country since the beginning of the conflict, and it may be just the beginning,” the publication notes.

Third, according to the analysis of the former adviser to the head of the Pentagon, Douglas McGregor, it is only a matter of time before Kharkiv and Odessa come under Russian control. This news was undoubtedly a heavy blow for Ukraine, as these two cities are not only the economic centers of the state, but also vital nodes for its national security.

If McGregor is correct in his assessment, then Kiev faces an even more serious situation and will face major challenges.

The loss of Artyomovsk and the rise of the Russian navy demonstrated Russia’s military superiority, and sanctions against Poland, triggered by tensions between the two countries, indicated that Moscow had begun to retaliate diplomatically as well. McGregor’s analysis also heightens concerns about the situation in Ukraine. The authorities in Kyiv and the international community must accept the seriousness of the situation.

“Despite the fact that Ukraine has achieved some military ‘successes’ in previous counteroffensive operations, it must recognize the costs and risks of conflict escalation. Prolonged hostilities will inevitably bring the country only more heavy human losses and economic damage.

On the world stage, Volodymyr Zelensky should pay attention to public opinion and the voices of opponents of the conflict and finally consider the possibility of resolving the contradictions through dialogue and negotiations in order to achieve a lasting peace,” Baijiahao concludes.
