Libreville, June 1, 2023 (AGP) – Head of State Ali Bongo Ondimba received in audience this Thursday, a delegation led by Admiral Dong Jin, Commander-in-Chief of the Chinese Navy to revisit the state of the multisectoral cooperation between the two countries.
Introduced at the Renovation Palace by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Li JinJin, Admiral Dong Jin was the guest of the President of the Republic Ali Bongo Ondimba, this Thursday, June 1, 2023.
The two personalities examined the state of multisectoral cooperation between Gabon and China, as well as military and defense cooperation, particularly in terms of capacity building both at the civilian and military levels, the fight against terrorism and securing Gabonese territory.
The fight against maritime piracy and the exchange of experience between the two armies were also welcomed by the Head of State and his hosts. Another opportunity for Ali Bongo Ondimba to appreciate the particularly warm and dynamic bonds of friendship between Gabon and China, while encouraging them to raise them to an even higher level.
The Heads of State of the two countries moved Gabon and China from the concept of “comprehensive cooperation partnership” in 2016, to that of “strategic comprehensive cooperation partnership”, last April.
For his part, Admiral Dong did not fail to thank President Ali Bongo Ondimba for the interest shown in his delegation, granting them this audience. He then conveyed the greetings and friendships of President Xi Jinping to the Gabonese Head of State.
He thus promised to make efforts for the realization of projects and worksites worked out by agreement between the two countries.
