French football player Karim Benzema denied information about a possible transfer to the Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad. The Real Madrid player emphasized that the information on the Internet is not true.
“Why should I talk about the future when I’m in Madrid? For now I’m here, I’m very proud of my work and I enjoy every training, match and that’s the most important thing. I enjoy football like kids.” Benzema responded according to the AFP agency about the transfer to Saudi Arabia.
Al Ittihad was to offer Benzema a two-year contract with a salary of 100 million euros per season. He could be replaced in the Madrid club by Harry Kane, the top scorer of the English national team and Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking at the Marca awards ceremony, Benzema explained that his approach to the game means he is trying to be a more versatile striker: “I can score goals, but I like football because of what I can do on the pitch. I try to do things that you can’t see in other strikers.”
The 35-year-old forward has been with Real Madrid since 2009 and has won five Champions League titles, four in the domestic competition and three Spanish Cups. He currently holds the position of captain in the team, but his contract expires after this season.
